This ten week course invites you to find fiction in the world around you. We will write in flash and long forms. We will wiggle our funny bones, tell those tall tales, craft absurdity from social issues and other real life dramas. We will read a lot. We will study the working parts of a variety of stories (classic, contemporary, flash, long form, and everything in between) the way a mechanic in training studies engines.

We will write every day, compiling the working parts of our stories, and complete (at least) three full works of fiction by the end of the course. In addition to daily interaction with one another’s work, writers in this community will be able to read their work on Zoom in a nod to the traditional workshop format, minus the snark. Writers will receive three formal feedback letters from Bridgette (one for each story submitted) and will have the opportunity to showcase their work on the Writing People Want to Read blog.
